Jefferson Pinder

Client Case Study
Contemporary Artist

In 2022 Jefferson Pinder hired me to redesign his website to better reflect the look and feel of his video performance works. This project included organizing and archiving his works in a clear and easy-to-navigate index. This process included assessing the images, videos and text of each project, organizing them in to categories, and then building out web pages to create an informative and compelling portfolio.

Challenges

The three main requests from the client were to first, have a searchable archive of his video performance works, second have the website be a place to post and promote upcoming events, exhibitions and new works and third, integrate his social media into the site. The client also wanted to use clips from his video works as the backdrop of the pages as a way to incorporate more movement into the site.

Design Solutions

The searchable archive was the request that easily took the longest to work through. I started by creating individual project pages for each of the works, complete with video clips, images and text. Then I assigned tags and categories to all the works so they would be easier to filter when using the search feature. Next was creating a chronological timeline of all the works in a clean and easy to navigate format.

I was able to create a sleek and simple timeline of the client’s work. Using custom CSS I implemented an effect where the image of the project appears as you hover over each title. This effect maintains visual simplicity within the archive while still incorporating the visual details of each work.
